Brian Rea
Brian Rea (1971) has produced drawings and designs for books, magazines, murals, posters and music videos but is perhaps best known for his weekly illustrations of the Modern Love section in The New York Times, each of which constructs a narrative as rich, complete and meaningful as the text itself. He started out as an art director, then shifted his focus to illustration to “produce my own work and tell my own stories.” A native New Yorker, he settled in Los Angeles, where he has more light, more space, and—he feels—more freedom.
